Steal This Art Idea

Spend a year making decorative sofa-sized paintings, the kind that suburban housewives go gaga over. Find a third tier gallery to represent you and your "new" work. Price the work according to the length of a given collector's sofa. Offer to custom match any furniture, decor, or home building style. Make tons of money at this. Use your new wealth to amass an important collection of works by critically acclaimed contemporary artists. Display this work throughout your home. Host a party; invite your collectors as well as the area arts intelligentsia. Document this event. At the end of the year, stop. Go back to making good work.

New Year, New Blog

Rather than boring myself with process images or self-gratifying notes about how well my practice is going I've decided to expand things a bit by looking outside of my own studio into the larger world of art, its production, and, sometimes, the dumbest thoughts that come to mind. This blog is dedicated entirely to questions about art and its relationship to people I know (or want to know), our shared experiences, and our need to understand how it all comes about. Enjoy!
